accessibility of educational institutions in India

Accessibility of education for persons with disabilities is major problem in India. higher education is not reachable for them despite of enactment of several acts like UNCRDP, PWD, RCI and several policies, schemes and guideline such as National policy for persons with disabilities, UGC's educational plan guidelines and Inclusive education for children and youth with disabilities etc.

Very few universities such as Delhi university, JNU, University of Pune, TISS etc are following UGC's guidelines for persons with disability at some extent. a movement is needed to be started for the implementation of government policies for improvement of educational status of physically challenged people. out of the 350 universities only handful of universities and few colleges have disability support service units working for inclusion of people with disabilities in normal academic set up.

  1. I totally agree with you. The government should invest in learning facilities for the disabled. This will allow them to bring out their ability to develop themselves as well as the society.
